In what was a double success for Eccleshall at the weekend following George Scott's presentation as divisional Goalkeeper of the Month for February, the Eagles also received the NWCFL Club of the Month award for the First Division South.
Based on the results of three wins from three games during the month - Market Drayton Town (away), Barnton (away) and New Mills (home) and scoring six goals with only one conceded, the League applied formula gave us 11 points from three games for a 3.67 average.
This was enough to place us ahead of league leaders, Winsford United, who had three wins and a draw and Barnton, who had three wins, one draw and one defeat.
It is perhaps a measure of the good run of form the club has enjoyed so far this season and credit must be given to the team management and the first team squad for the Eagles to recently top the First Division South Form Table.
The award is something of a 'collector's item' as it highlighted the fact that, in spite of being members of the North West Counties League for 21 seasons, it is Eccleshall's first ever Club of the Month win!
League Ambassador, Andrew Reid, presented the award to club chairman, Neil Washington, and team manager Liam Kelly before the Market Drayton Town game and it inspired the Eagles to a 3-1 win on the day, lifting them into the play-off positions as the season draws to a conclusion with three games left to play.
Congratulations to Liam, Sam, Nathan, Laura and all the 1st team who have played their part in what is a notable first for the club.
