Eccleshall received good news at the weekend when the monthly North West Counties League Player of the Month awards were announced. After a successful February when the club achieved three wins from three games. Eagles keeper George Scott was announced as the First Division South Goalkeeper of the Month.
George joined Eccleshall last October with a good pedigree having come through the academy at Welsh Premier side The New Saints before moving to AFC Telford United. A loan spell followed at Bridgnorth, before moving to Market Drayton Town and then Shifnal Town in the Midland League Premier Division.
After joining Eccleshall, he proved to be a calming influence on the defence, giving confidence to the Eagles back line. In his first seven games, only eleven goals were conceded. In the three wins during February, George proved his value to the team in keeping clean sheets against Barnton (away) and New Mills (home), whilst conceding one in the away win at Market Drayton Town. He has played a significant part in the Eagles' recent run of good form.
The League award, sponsored by Reusch, means that George receives a pair of goalkeepers gloves and these are likely to be presented to him at Eccleshall's next home match against Market Drayton Town on Saturday 29. March (3.00pm).
Everyone at the Stoke Signage Stadium congratulates George on his well deserved award.
