ECCLESHALL'S NEW FLOODLIGHTS ARE UP AND RUNNING

ECCLESHALL'S NEW FLOODLIGHTS ARE UP AND RUNNING

Jim Tunney26 Dec 2024 - 12:46

New LED lights are now in place

Supporters at our home match against Shawbury United on Saturday will see the club's new floodlights operational for the first time. After successful grant applications to the Football Foundation's Premier League Floodlight Fund and Staffordshire County Council's Low Carbon Grant scheme, contractors Midstream Lighting fitted the new units in early December.

The lights will be a big improvement on the old system and, aside from being brighter, they will contribute to the club's energy saving measures and will be cheaper to run.

Club Secretary, Jim Tunney, said: "We applied to replace our lights at the beginning of the year as we were beginning to have one or two problems with the old system which had been in place for twenty years. Whilst the Football Foundation funding took a while to come through, we think that supporters will see a big difference now that they have been installed. We are also grateful to Staffordshire County Council for their grant contribution towards the cost. Aside from the funding, their consultants also advised on other power saving measures to conserve energy. Once approval had been given to our applications and the successful contractor appointed, Midstream put the wheels in motion to order the equipment and have it delivered to Pershall Park. The installation work took a week to complete and the necessary lux level test results were then submitted to the League to comply with the rules. The contractors will be visiting the ground after the Christmas break for another check on them but things are looking good".

The completed lighting work was another stage in a number of ground improvements which have taken place at Pershall Park during 2024. The executive box was put in place at the middle of the year and the new 50 seater stand was completed in mid - December. Additionally, essential club house drainage work was also completed. Further project plans are being put in place for the New Year to continue improvements to the club facilities.
