25/11/07 (Sunday) Eccleshall (U18s) 2 Norton United Youth 1 (Sentinel Cup)

A goal four minutes before the final whistle earned Eccleshall Youth an away victory over North United Youth and a safe passage to the second round of the Sentinel Cup.

Norton took the lead in the first half through a deflected goal struck by Otis Fox. The home side could have doubled their advantage after the break when they were awarded a penalty, but Eccleshall keeper Adam Heath reacted smartly to deny them and shortly afterwards the Eagles came back into contention when Nathan Coward tucked away a through ball.

In a fast flowing game both sides posed a threat when moving forward but Eccleshall had the last word and staved off extra time in the dying minutes, as Matt Sharp pressurised the Norton defence and nipped in to bag the winner.

11/11/07 (Sunday) Eccleshall U18s 11 Wyrley Swifts U17s 0 (Staffordshire Youth Challenge Cup)

Callum MoloneyEccleshall Youth strolled into the second round of the Staffordshire Youth County Cup with a punishing 11-0 victory over Wyrley Swifts U17s.

Constant pressure kept Wyrley on the back foot and earned Eccleshall a six goal lead by half-time. Jack Evans opened the scoring from close range and Matt Sharp bagged a hat-trick, while Callum Moloney and keeper Adam Heath both converted penalties.

Heath turned front-man in the second half and striker Sharp went between the sticks. The Eagles remained dominant and increased their lead, with Heath netting twice to claim his hat-trick. Ben Lewis latched onto a Jack Thorley pass to blast home and Spencer Gunnell scored two long range efforts, to round off a fine team performance and take the Eccleshall tally to 11 goals.


04/11/07 (Sunday) Fulford United Youth 3 Eccleshall Youth 4 (Premier League Cup R1)

Eccleshall went through to the second round after an exciting cup tie up against a fighting Fulford display.

Eccleshall went ahead after 10 minutes with a superb strike into the top corner from Danny Heard. Zac Dellicopagni was then on hand to make it 0-2 after a defensive slip up.

Joshua Walker tucked away a cross field pass to make it 1-2, only for Spencer Gunnell to score a minute later for the visitors.In a frenetic last two minutes, Walker and Marlon Martin scored again for Fulford making it 3-3 at half time.

In a tight second half, Zac Dellicompagni popped up at the back post in the 65 th minute to head in Nathan Coward's cross.

1/10/07 (Sunday) Eccleshall U18s 2-0 Kidsgrove Athletic (Longton Trophy Premier Division)

Two second half goals saw an injury-torn Eccleshall Youth claim three points away at Kidsgrove Athletic to maintain their unbeaten league run.

With a squad reduced to 14, the league leaders were forced all the way in the first period and it was second placed Kidsgrove who came closest to breaking the deadlock, when Nick Woods picked up a through ball but shot wide. Minutes later team-mate Julian Weatherhall broke free, only to see his effort clear the bar. Eccleshall's woes continued when two of their players had to be replaced by Jack Thorley and Pete Jones - who were themselves carrying injuries. Striker Matt Sharp

 

The Eagles stepped up their play in the second half and took the lead with a clinical short range shot by Matt Sharp. The visitors went further ahead when Thorley chipped the ball to Nathan Coward, who flicked on to Sharp and the striker executed an angled lob into the net, to bag his second goal of the match.

14/10/07 (Sunday) Eccleshall U18s 3-1 Hanley Town (Longton Trophy Premier Division)Keeper Adam Heath

A 3-1 home win over Hanley Town kept Eccleshall Youth at the top of the Longton Trophy Premier Division.

Eccleshall took an early lead through Matt Sharp, who latched onto a clearance and lobbed the stranded Hanley keeper. At the opposite end the visitors forced an athletic stop from the Eagles keeper, Adam Heath, but on the 20th minute Eccleshall doubled their advantage when Nathan Coward collected a through ball and netted.

Grant Bigham made a determined run from midfield and drove in from 20 yards to put his side 3-0 ahead. Both teams created further chances and Hanley reduced the deficit as Matthew Legg slotted home.


30/09/07 (Sunday) Eccleshall U18s 2-0 Hanley Town (Longton Trophy Premier Division)

Eccleshall Youth claimed their third league win of the season in a top of the table clash against Hanley Town . Manager Andy Lovatt will be celebrating as the victory now sees the young Eccleshall Eagles clear at the top of the table with a game in hand.

Andy OldhamBoth teams defended in depth and the tie remained goalless in the first half. Eccleshall came out brighter in the second period and opened their account after 65 minutes when Jordan Weaver connected powerfully from a corner.The Eagles tightened their grip, stretching their lead to 2-0 when Andy Oldham latched onto a through ball from Jack Evans and lobbed the Hanley keeper.

Earlier in the week Eccleshall progressed to the third round of the FA Youth Cup after a 1-0 victory at Sutton Coldfield outfit, Boldmere St Michael's, to set up a clash with local rivals Stone Dominoes.

16/09/07 (Sunday) Eccleshall Youth 7 Alsager 2 Peter Jones

 

A first half perfect hat-trick from Spencer Gunnell and 1 each from Pete Jones, Mat Sharp and  goalkeeper Ad Heath ( direct from a goal kick) gave The Eagles a 6-1 half-time score. Easing off in the second half only 1 more goal followed. It came from Nathan Coward who saw the goalkeeper off his line and shot from the half way line to score no.7.

09/09/07 (Sunday) Eccleshall Youth 1-0 Fulford

A goal from Andy Oldham off a corner was all that separated these 2 sides in the opening game of the season in a very hard fought  game.

Team- Heath, Oldham, Sandy, Brunt, Bigham, Weaver, Evans, Moloney, Coward, Heard, Sharp. Subs- Lewis, Askey.
